vulnus, translated from latin, means ‘the wound’; one of the most iconic images in the book of hours, that of which queers jesus's wounds as well as inviting interpretations of gender fluidity through art and text. manuscripts depicting the wound of christ were often held and kissed by all those who worship, evidenced by the erosion of their ink over time. ‘the divine made into flesh.’
this piece is delicately constructed. a marquis cut garnet is set in a hand-carved brass pendant and drips with red agate and freshwater pearls.
